Course Description

Self-service business intelligence (BI) is designed for business users to perform data analytics on their own even if they have limited IT skills. Self-service BI design can be described by the three D’s: data, data model, and dashboards.

Power Query is the tool you need to perform the first step in setting up a self-service BI architecture for business users.

Power Query is an ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tool. It extracts various data sources, transforms the data sources by cleaning and enriching the data, and finally loading the data.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define self-service business intelligence (BI) for business users

  • Describe an ETL tool—extract, transform, load—the three components of accessing and cleaning data.

  • Identify Power Query an ETL tool for self-service business intelligence

  • Determine why you should learn Power Query

  • Recognize how Power Query integrates with other Microsoft self-service BI tools to create a complete solution for self-service business intelligence

  • Describe how Power Query is the authoring tool for applications that lead to automation
